Bringing Broadway's incredible musicians from the pit to the stage!
It’s always exciting when BCP welcome Broadway’s most acrobatic and versatile musicians to perform - Broadway’s Woodwind Doublers! Three legends of Broadway, with over 90 Broadway credits between them, will perform on November 15th showcasing wonderful works by Beethoven, Milhaud, as well as a wonderful collection of Burton Lane masterpieces arranged by one of the artists himself, Steve Kenyon.
The art of woodwind doubling refers to musicians who perform on two or more instruments from a woodwind family. By 1940, it was already common practice on Broadway for woodwind players to be proficient doublers. Today you can find doublers performing in Jazz clubs, recording sessions, television and movie scores, award shows, you name it! Their ability and dedication to music is vital for the existence for live music on Broadway.
